Archaeology 101

Archaeology 101

Archaeologists have been excavating at the site of Ancient Corinth since 1896! While there is a lot that we know about the ancient city and its people, there is still much to explore. That is why every spring, a team of workmen and archaeologists excavates a new part of the ancient city.

Excavating, or digging, and other archaeological fieldwork is done in more or less the same way around the world. Whether an archaeologist specializes in Greek or Aztec archaeology, he or she is trained in similar ways. Check out our Archaeology 101 series to learn some fieldwork basics!
