Numismatic Collection
The coin collection contains over 90,000 coins of Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Frankish, Venetian and Ottoman date derived from the excavations to which an average of 300 are added every year. Work is in progress to re-house the collection and a project to electronically catalogue new and old accessions has already begun. All coins from hoards are currently being photographed. A reference collection of types represented is maintained and new material has traditionally been published as appendices to excavation reports in Hesperia. In 2009 and 2010 about 3000 coins were catalogued in a project that was significantly funded by the Kress Foundation. Entries from that project can be found here and the whole digitized collation is available at this link.
