BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE - ΒΙΟΓΡΑΦΙΚΟ ΣΗΜΕΙΩΜΑ

Evi Melas (1930-2010) was a correspondent for the German newspapers Die Welt, Mϋncher Merkur, Stuttgarter Zeitung during 1959-1967; after the fall of the Greek military junta in 1974, she worked for the Sϋddeutsche Zeitung, RIAS Berlin, Christ und Welt, Merian, and others. Between 1969-1990 she wrote, published, and translated among other works, nine guide books about Greece and the history of Greek art, as well as one guide book on Rumania. These books were translated in many languages and made multiple editions. Perhaps her most well-known book is Temples and Sanctuaries of Ancient Greece: A Companion Guide (1973).
