Field Report: Corinth Excavations 2009 Season

The 2009 season at Corinth was characterized by teamwork and dialogue shown by 19 students members and three supervisors. Excavation clarified the 10th and 11th century A.C. phasing of the courtyard house, which fell into disuse in the 12th century and was refurbished in the 13th century. Corinth Excavations serves as a field school for training members of the ASCSA in excavation methodologies.

Exhibit of drawings at the Blegen Library

David Voros, a professor at the University of South Carolina where he coordinates the painting program, is exhibiting his drawings at the Blegen Library from June 19 to July 15, 2009. In the exhibition, he presents selected works from a series of drawings he completed while a Visiting Senior Member at ASCSA in the Fall of 2007.

The Annual Wiener Laboratory Workshop was held on March 12th, 2009 and organized by 2008-2009 Fellows Dr. Christina Tsoraki (Geoarchaeology Fellow, University of Sheffield), Dr. Niels Andreasen (Geoarchaeology Fellow, University of Cambridge), and Dr. Rozalia Christidou (Faunal Studies Fellow, University of Crete). The theme for this workshop was "Stone and Bone Tools."
