Ένα νέο βιβλίο για τον συγγραφέα Άγγελο Τερζάκη (1907-1979), κορυφαίο εκπρόσωπο της περίφημης "Γενιάς του 1930", δημοσιεύτηκε πριν από λίγο καιρό. Βασισμένο σε έρευνα στο προσωπικό αρχείο του Τερζάκη που φυλάσσεται στα Αρχεία της Αμερικανικής Σχολής Κλασικών Σπουδών, ο συγγραφέας του, Θανάσης Αγάθος, διερευνά τη σχέση του Τερζάκη με τον ελληνικό κινηματογράφο της δεκαετίας του 1950.

Η Γεννάδειος Βιβλιοθήκη απέκτησε μία εξαιρετικά σπάνια έκδοση ενός από τα πιο εμβληματικά έργα οθωμανικής προπαγάνδας του 1916. Με τον τίτλο «Εκδίκηση», ο χάρτης αποτυπώνει το θρήνο για την απώλεια πολλών οθωμανικών περιοχών στην Ευρώπη κατά τη διάρκεια των Βαλκανικών Πολέμων, αποδίδοντας -με δραματικό τόνο- τα χαμένα εδάφη ‘λουσμένα’ σε μαύρο χρώμα.

Gennadius Library acquires an exceedingly rare Ottoman map

The Gennadius Library purchased a very rare issue of one of the most iconic Ottoman works of visual propaganda. Entitled ‘Revenge,’ the map laments the loss of numerous European Ottoman territories during the Balkan Wars, with the forfeited lands dramatically bathed in black.

Mr. Lo: The First Chinese Student at the ASCSA, 1933

In 1933, a Chinese student by the name Mao-Te Lo was admitted to the American School to attend the year-long program. He went on to become a famous translator of ancient Greek drama and comedy in China.
