This volume brings together selected papers from a colloquium marking the centenary of the signing of the Lausanne Peace Treaty (1923) and the ensuing population exchange between Greece and Turkey. Co-organized by the American School of Classical Studies at Athens and the Hellenic Parliament Foundation, the colloquium convened leading scholars to examine the international humanitarian response to Greece in the aftermath of World War I and the Asia Minor Catastrophe. The contributions highlight the pivotal role played by organizations such as the American Red Cross and the Near East Relief, which not only provided emergency assistance—food, clothing, and medical care—but also established orphanages, hospitals, and schools. These initiatives proved crucial to the long-term resettlement and integration of refugees in Greece.
