Description:
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1922 explusion of Greeks from Asia Minor, the ASCSA organized an exhibition to explore the impact of the event on major Greek writers of the interwar period. Drawing on the rich collections of the Archives and the Gennadius Library, the exhibit focused on the life and work of four seminal Greek writers—novelists Stratis Myrivilis, Elias Venezis, and George Theotokas, and poet George Seferis—all of whom express the emotions attendant to the plight of refugees. While these authors speak to events a century ago, their lives and stories offer parallels for understanding the challenges facing refugee populations today. The catalogue that accompanied the exhibit is fully bilingual (modern Greek and English).
