Description:
The Odeum is situated on sloping ground west of the temple of Apollo and a short distance to the south of the theater. It was first identified in 1907 but not excavated until 1927-1928. Three periods of use are described: the building's first construction in the late 1st century A.D.; its decoration with marble under Herodes Atticus (destroyed by fire early in the 3rd century A.D.); and a final period of reuse as an arena after A.D. 225.
