About Alicia Dissinger

Alicia Dissinger joined the American School in September 2016 as the Programs Administrator. As Programs Administrator, she oversees the application process for fellowships and programs, as well as provides support to the Managing Committee. Alicia is a classical archaeologist who has excavated in Cyprus, Greece, and Italy. She was also a member of the School’s Agora Excavations in 2009 and 2010. In 2017, she received her PhD in Art & Architectural History from the University of Virginia. She also holds an MA in Art History from the University of Texas at Austin and a BA in Archaeology from the College of Wooster. Her academic work focuses on Archaic Cyprus, with a special interest on representations of animals (mainly images of birds) in the ancient world.
