The Gennadius Library will be closed to the public from December 15, 2014 to January 3, 2015
December 8, 2014
Due to the reconstruction of the West Wing of the Gennadius Library, the operation of the reading room will be disrupted from December 15, 2014 until February 10, 2015. The Library has been closed to the public from December 15, 2014 to January 3, 2015.
The Library will resume its normal operations on Monday January 5, 2015, but there will be noise due to the works in the West Wing. We will make every effort to inform the public in a timely manner about further disruptions.
We apologize for the inconvenience and hope for your understanding.
The important reconstruction and extension of the West Wing of the Gennadius Library began in July 2014 thanks to a major grant from the European Union (ΕΣΠΑ), a Challenge Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, and generous gifts of private donors. The project will upgrade the functionality of the Gennadius Library optimizing the management and display of its holdings by creating open stacks for readers and a new exhibition space.
The new exhibition space will transform the experience and viewing of the library’s treasures and redefine the mission and vision of the American School by opening its doors to a broader public.
