The American School of Classical Studies at Athens is pleased to announce the inauguration of the Henry S. Robinson Fellowship, funded to encourage research at the ASCSA excavations at Ancient Corinth.
A Ph.D. candidate or recent Ph.D. (within five years), for research on a doctoral dissertation or primary publication specifically on Corinth, is eligible. It is open to all nationalities. Note that the Robinson Fellowship may not be held concurrently with another School fellowship.
The fellowship award is up to $4,500 for one or more individuals. Funding is for research activities at Corinth, to be used to cover living expenses, including room, board, and fees, and other costs associated with the study. Travel costs are not included. A final report would be due at the end of the award period, and the ASCSA expects that copies of all publications that result from research conducted as a Fellow of the ASCSA be contributed to the Blegen Library or the Gennadius Library of the School. The research period for this fellowship is for up to three months, within the period from July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011. (Note that the availability of rooms and workspace is limited during the excavation season from April to June.)
Interested parties should submit application for ASCSA visiting associate membership online. See more application details.
THE POSTMARK DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 21, 2010. The award will be announced by April 2010.
The fellowship is named for Henry Robinson, Director of the School from 1959 to 1969, who at the same time as Director of Corinth Excavations, set the stage for a new era in reviving field work at Corinth.
