The 129th Annual Open Meeting of ASCSA was presented in Cotsen Hall on Friday, March 12, before perhaps the largest crowd ever assembled for such an event at the School. Not even standing room was available! Former director, James Muhly, sent his congratulations the following day: “It was a grand occasion, appreciated by everyone who was present. It is wonderful to talk with so many people so positive about all that is now going on at the School.”
After the Director reviewed the accomplishments of the past year, the assembled crowd heard a stunning presentation of new reconstructions of Archaic wall-paintings from western Turkey by Whitehead Professor, Stella Miller-Collett.
It has now become a tradition to repeat the Open Meeting in Thessaloniki. We are proud that the Rector of the Aristotle University of Thessalonki was in attendance on Thursday, March 18. After the talks, the ASCSA contingent enjoyed dinner at a local taverna with the archaeology faculty of the university.
