Icon from the Stathatos Collection lent to exhibition in Corfu

A religious icon from the Stathatos collection has been lent to the exhibition “Ex votos and Miracles. Votive practices in Corfu and in Europe”, which has been organized by the 21st Eforeia of Byzantine Antiquities in collaboration with the Musée national des Civilisations de l’ Europe et de la Méditerranée - MuCEM.

The show takes place in the Latin Chapel of the Old Fortress of Corfu and will end in late April with the ceremony of integration of old city of Corfu in the Monuments of World Cultural Heritage of UNESCO. The picture in question, is a work of artist Konstantinos Contarini and it depicts the Salvation of Nikolaos Contarini. It is dated in the 18th century.
