The School had the honor of hosting Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos on June 29. For an hour's time, the President was able to put Greece's economic troubles behind him and immerse himself in the magnificence of the collection. His tour included paintings by Elytis and objects from the Dragoumis archives. School Director Jim Wright and staff Irini Solomonidi, Alexis Malliaris, Eleutheria Daleziou, and Leda Costaki then escorted him into the Archives reading room where he was shown the watercolors by Edward Lear. The picture of Gortyn prompted a conversation about the ancient Gortyn law code.
The President greatly enjoyed his visit and we all wished him well in the challenging days ahead.
