The Greek National Opera's (GNO) second online festival, “Counterpoints,” sheds light on the relationship between Greek art music and architecture. The festival was curated by the GNO's Artistic Director, George Koumentakis, and was shot at some of Athens' greatest buildings.

Three of the most celebrated works of Greek art music written during the interwar period were performed at the Gennadius Library by mezzo-soprano Margarita Syngeniotou, accompanied on the piano by Apostolos Palios:

• Yannis Konstantinidis’ Songs of Anticipation
• Manolis Kalomiris’
Should I Speak? set to poetry by Kostis Palamas
• Dimitri Mitropoulos’ 10 Inventions set to poetry by Constantine Cavafy

This portion of the festival premiered on Friday, October 2, 2020, and the video will be available online until Monday, November 2, 2020. Other "Counterpoints" videos will be streamed online at nationalopera.gr/en, on GNO’s Facebook page and YouTube channel, and on the Ministry of Culture and Sports' website at digitalculture.gov.gr.
