Philoi of the Gennadeion organize lecture for the Day of Johannes Gennadius

The Philoi of the Gennadius Library celebrated the Day in Μemory of Johannes Gennadius, on March 26, 2009, with a lecture presented by Professor George Huxley. The lecture titled “Aristotle, Johannes Gennadius and the Idea of a Scholarly Library” was very inspiring and enriched the knowledge of the audience. George L. Huxley is a professor of Classical Philology and was the Director of the Gennadius Library from 1986 to 1989. He has written and edited numerous books such as “Achaenans and Hittites” (1960), “Early Sparta” (1962), “The Early Ionians” (1966), “Greek Epic Poetry form Eumelos to Panyassis” (1969), “Kythera, Excavations and Studies” (1972), “Pindar’s Vision of the Past” (1975), “On Aristotle and Greek Society” (1979), “Homer and Travellers” (1988) .  He is also the author of various articles on Hellenic and Byzantine subjects.
