The American School of Classical Studies at Athens invites you to a lecture by Professor Anne Gilliland, University of California at Los Angeles, Digital Records, Digital Documents and Digital Archives: The Past, the Present and the Future, Tuesday, November 4, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. in Cotsen Hall, 9 Anapiron Polemou Street (Kolonaki). Anne Gilliland is Professor and Chair of the Department of Information Studies at the University of California Los Angeles, and Director of the Center for Information as Evidence.  She is also a faculty member in the M.A. Program in Moving Image Archive Studies.  A Fellow of the Society of American Archivists, her research and teaching interests address the various intersections of information technology, recordkeeping and cultural heritage, including digital records management and digital curatorship.  She is also engaged with social justice and human rights issues as they relate to record and memory-keeping; and archival education.  She has published and presented widely around the world. Η Anne Gilliland είναι καθηγήτρια και πρόεδρος του Τμήματος Σπουδών Πληροφορίας (Information Studies) του Πανεπιστημίου της Καλιφόρνιας στο Los Angeles και διευθύντρια του Κέντρου Πληροφορίας ως Τεκμήριο (Center for Information as Evidence). Έχει ενεργό ρόλο σε θέματα κοινωνικής δικαιοσύνης και ανθρωπίνων δικαιωμάτων που άπτονται της διατήρησης τεκμηρίων και μνήμης καθώς και σε θέματα αρχειακής εκπαίδευσης. Έχει κάνει πολλές δημοσιεύσεις για θέματα διαχείρισης ψηφιακού πολιτιστικού αποθέματος. Στην ομιλία της θα εξετάσει τη μετεξέλιξη θεμελιωδών ιδεών και πρακτικών που σχετίζονται με την επιλογή (appraisal), αυθεντικότητα (authenticity), ευθύνη διαχείρισης (custodianship) και διατήρησης (preservation) των ηλεκτρονικών αρχείων.
