Join us on on February 27, 2012 as we celebrate Kathara Deftera, the end of carnival and the beginning of Lent, a Greek Orthodox national holiday coinciding with the first hints of spring.
This year the event will be held for the first time at the highly rated Kellari Taverna in midtown Manhattan. Traditional Greek specialty dishes for Lent will be prepared by Executive Chef Gregory Zapantis. View the complete menu.
Music will once again be provided by the popular Gregory Maninakis and Mikrokosmos Ensemble
All proceeds support the Gennadius Library, a national treasure of Greece and a world-renowned center for the study of Hellenism from antiquity to the present containing some 120,000 rare books, archives, manuscripts, and research volumes illuminating all periods of Greek history and civilization.
Open seating tickets will be priced at $300/person with Young Friends seating (i.e., those under 40 years of age) for $160/person. Reservations may also be made for a table seating 6 up to 12 people. All seats must be reserved and paid for in advance of the event. For more information contact Jane Goble at 609-683-0800 ext. 14, or jgoble@ascsa.org. Download the invitation.
