George Metaxas, former cook of the Corinth Excavations, died Thursday, February 6, after a motorbike accident the previous week. He will be remembered by residents of Hill House during the late 1980's to early 2000's for his humor, cheer, and lavishly decorated cakes. His funeral was very well attended and featured fireworks at the church and graveside as well. He was buried near former foreman Menes Arbororres at Agia Paraskevi with his Olympiakos scarf, his old football jersey, and two packs of cigarettes.
