About the concert

The "Group Barocco " will interpret works by the main representatives of Baroque music, such as Antonio Vivaldi, Georg Philipp Telemann, Domenico Scarlatti. Our long-term works are characterized by the vitality in style, melodicity in the phrase as well as dancing rhythm in motifs. The "Group Barocco"plays on period instruments of the 17th and 18th centuries and aims to take the listener to the wonderful world of old music.

About the artists

Giorgos Goumenakis studied mandolin at “G. Verdi” conservatory of Milan and took his diploma under the teaching of Ugo Orlandi. He founded Athens Quintet “Dimitrios Dounis” and reconstituted Athenian Mandolinata “Nicolaos Lavdas” under the aegis of “Parnassus” Literary Society. He has participated in international festivals in Greece, Italy, France, Germany, Turkey, Albania and Croatia. He collaborated with Estudiantina of Nea Ionia, Athenian Youth Symphony Orchestra, Contemporary Music Orchestra of Greek Public Broadcaster ERT, Athens State Orchestra, Orchestra of Colours, National Opera, Camerata - Orchestra of the Friends of Music, both in concerts and on recordings. He performed as a soloist with Solisti Veneti and conductor Claudio Scimone at Veneto Festival as part of the World Music Day celebration and at Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza, recording R. Drigo’ s serenade from “I milioni d’ Arlecchini” ballet. He collaborates with pianist Stavros Kollias, performing original repertoire for mandolin and piano. He teaches mandolin at “Orfeio” conservatory of Athens.

 

Maria Koletou began studying recorder in the municipal conservatory of Katerini. In 1996 she started studying at the University for Music in Graz, Austria. She was enrolled in both fields of instrumental studies and of Music Education-Recorder. She obtained the a Bachelor of Art and Master of Arts in both fields with “excellent” by Prof. Luisi. At the same time, she began studying the Bassoon with Prof. Faludy and she obtained the Academic Degrees “Bachelor of Art” and «Master of Arts" in both fields. She has taken part in several orchestras and has taught bassoon and recorder at music schools and conservatories. 

She teaches recorder and bassoon at the Athenaeum Conservatoire and is a permanent member of the Athens Wind Orchestra. She is a Phd candidate at the Music Department of Ionian University.

 

 

The harpsichordist Katerina Ktona, a distinguished graduate of the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Munich, has been steadily rising in the world of baroque music. As a founding member of the baroque ensembles CANTO SOAVE, LUMINI E SOMBRI and BAROCCO BRILLANTE, she has participated in concerts, seminars, and recordings both in Greece and abroad. 2023: Harpsichord recital at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory, featuring selected music and excerpts from Greek and foreign poetry.
2022: Presented an original harpsichord recital at the Zivasart Gallery, combining works by 17th-century Italian composers with music from selected film successes by composer Nino Rota.
2023: Performed harpsichord and Celtic harp at the Musifanto festival in Sifnos.
2024: Presented baroque and contemporary music works for violin and harpsichord with violinist Stella Tsani at the Erateio Conservatory.
2024: She has recorded for SUBWAYS music, baroque and contemporary music.

 

 

The Chilean cellist Fabiola Ojeda graduated in Cello Performance at the Musikhochschule Münster, Germany. She also studied in the Detmold Musikhochschule and at Georgia State University in the U.S. She is based in Athens-Greece since 2009; she has worked as Principal cello at the Chamber Orchestra of the National Opera and has collaborated in concerts and recordings with the Baroque Orchestra "Armonia Atenea." She has also collaborted with Greek composers Nikos Mamangakis, Nikos Kypourgos, Giorgos Kouroupos, Theodore Antoniou, and George Tsondakis at the Alternative Stage of the Niarchos Foundation, the Megaron Mousikis of Athens and the Megaron Mousikis of Thessaloniki. She has played in master classes for professors Anatoly Krastev, Maria Kliegel, Collin Carr, Antonio Meneses, and Jaap ter Linden. Fabiola won 1st Prize at the Chilean Artist Competition and at the Atlanta Cello Society Young Artists Competition and was awarded a fellowship by the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now in Germany. She teaches cello at the Kodaly Conservatory of  Athens.
