William Sanders Scarborough Fellowship
Amount: ALL FEES
Availability: Summer Session and Summer Seminars
If you are applying for the Scarborough fellowship, you must apply to the program you wish to attend, and submit a separate application form for funding. 

Eligibility: Must be a graduate student, or above. Graduate students, faculty members (K-12 and all levels of post-secondary education), and independent scholars residing in the United States or Canada, regardless of citizenship, whose geographic origin, diverse experiences, and socio-economic background are underrepresented at the School (including persons from the Black, Indigenous, and Persons of Color communities), and whose studies, research, or teaching would benefit from residency at the School. Fellowship recipients need not be specialists in the field of Classical Studies. The School welcomes applicants from faculty of K-12 schools and from students or faculty from public and private universities, colleges, and community colleges; and encourages applications from Historically Black Colleges and Universities. For more information about applying, please click here.

ASCSA Alumni/ae Association Scholarship

ASCSA Antony and Isabelle Raubitschek Scholarship
Scholarship, endowed by an alumnus of the School and friends, in honor of the late Professor Antony Raubitschek of Stanford University and Isabelle Raubitschek.
Amount: $2,250

ASCSA Louis E. Lord Scholarship *in its second year*
Scholarship in honor of Professor Louis E. Lord, in the amount of $500 to a summer program student who exhibits the most creative approach to the study of classics. For summer 2024, two awards (each of $500) will be made.

CANE Endowment Scholarship
The CANE Endowment Scholarship is awarded for summer study at the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. Members of the Classical Association of New England and have been members in good standing for at least two full and consecutive years immediately prior to the year in which they apply for the award. Priority will be given to applications from Latin teachers of secondary school, public or private, who teach within the geographical boundaries of CANE. The CANE Endowment Scholarship is an award of up to approximately $5100 for summer study normally at the American School of Classical Studies at Athens.

Eta Sigma Phi Brent Malcolm Froberg Scholarship
Eta Sigma Phi members who have received a Bachelor’s degree within the eight years prior to application (or shall have received it by June 1st of the current year) and who have not received a doctoral degree are eligible. Note: In order to be valid, membership must have been registered with the national office of Eta Sigma Phi by the application deadline. 

The Brent Malcolm Froberg Scholarship to the American School of Classical Studies at Athens has a value of up to $3,300, not including the remission of tuition by the ASCSA. Eta Sigma Phi will select either one recipient for the Summer Session or up to two recipients for the Summer Seminars. If two Summer Seminar participants are chosen, the scholarship will be divided equally between them. Any remainder, beyond one-half of the program fees, goes to the recipient(s) for travel expenses. Eta Sigma Phi covers one-half of ASCSA Summer program fees and an additional stipend toward travel expenses; ASCSA pays the other half of fees.

New York Classical Club ASCSA Summer Session Scholarship
This is a special opportunity for Club members to win scholarships of up to $3,000 toward the cost of study in the summer session of the American Academy in Rome, the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, or similar programs for study in Greece and/or Rome. All members with one year of paid membership in the Club are eligible to apply for the award. The award is open to secondary school teachers and graduate students.  Interested individuals should obtain applications from the Academy, School or Institute, complete them, and send copies of all applications materials by January, 15 of the current year to Runako Taylor.

E. Adelaide Hahn Scholarships of the Classical Association of the Atlantic States
In honor of E. Adelaide Hahn, one or two awards of up to $7,000 will be made toward the cost of study at the Summer Session of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens (ASCSA) or the American Academy in Rome (AAR). Applicants must be current CAAS members at the time of application. Preference will be given to members with longevity, pre-college teachers, graduate students, and those who have not previously received this award, with priority given to those who live and work in the CAAS region.

Scholarship winners are expected to report on their summer study experience at the CAAS annual meeting in October.

Semple Award of the Classical Association of the Middle West and South
The Semple Award is for a current member of CAMWS who either holds a teaching position in Greek or Latin in an elementary or secondary school within CAMWS territory or is enrolled as a graduate student in a degree-granting Classics program within CAMWS territory. CAMWS members teaching at or students at a school outside CAMWS territory are eligible to apply for these awards if their schools are current institutional members of CAMWS. Award amount cover program costs (tuition, basic room and board) as per the ASCSA summer school fee. Airfare is excluded.

ASCSA, The Charles M. Edwards Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to an outstanding applicant, normally an exceptional undergraduate.

Minority Scholarship in Classics and Classical Archaeology
The Committee on Diversity in the Profession of the Society for Classical Studies (SCS) invites applications from minority undergraduate students from across North America for a scholarship to be awarded for Summer 2023. The purpose of the scholarship is to further students’ study of classics or classical archaeology with opportunities not available during the school year. Eligible proposals might include (but are not limited to) participation in classical summer programs or field schools in the Mediterranean or language training at institutions in the U.S., Canada, or Europe. The maximum amount of the award will be $4,500.

Rainbow Scholarship
The Rainbow Scholarship awards deserving lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) students who aim to participate in high-quality, rigorous education abroad programs. To be considered for the Rainbow Scholarship, applicants must self-identify on the Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) scholarship application. Eligibility: U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or DACA student; Currently enrolled as undergraduate at a U.S. university or college; Minimum of 4 weeks of study in country during Summer, Fall, or Spring; Program must be eligible for credit. Scholarships for Graduate Students

ASCSA, Open Scholarships
The American School awards approximately five open scholarships, normally to graduate students enrolled in programs that focus on Greek and/or Latin languages and literature, ancient history, ancient philosophy or Classical art and archaeology. Funding is restricted to graduate students, who at the time of application, are enrolled at Cooperating Institutions of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens.
