Born in Kavala in 1934, novelist Vassilis Vassilikos gained international fame when his novel “Z” became a successful film in 1969, directed by Costas Gavras. “Z” was also translated in 32 languages. Vasilikos has written more than 90 books (novels, short, stories, theater) and also served as Greece’s Ambassador in UNESCO (1996-2004). His early papers have been deposited at the Mugar Library of Boston University.

Summary: The collection contains correspondence (incoming letters from important figures, such as Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Hatzidakis, Marguerite Duras, Mario Vitti, James Merrill, and others and copies of outgoing correspondence); manuscripts and proofs with corrections by the author; translations; newspaper clippings about the work and life of the author; personal photographs; and audio-visual material.
